take a stand
Aug. 9th, 2006 05:36 pmEditor's Note: Move along, nothing here to see.
Editor's Note: Yeah, just the whole Marvel Universe about to implode.
Editor's Note: Will you please shut up!?!
It passes.
There's tons of lead up. Dramatic speeches. Passionate responses. Angry protesters. And yeah, it matters.
But what matters most is just those two words: it passes.
And the world isn't going to be the same ever again.
It's different for you. You wonder about that, a little, and what it says and implies--human laws for humans, superhuman laws for superhumans, and mutant laws for the freaks--when you have the time.
Sometimes you wonder at the fact that Jamie's safe in Mutant Town. They haven't rounded all the mutants up yet, but you're wondering if that's next, now, too, as soon as the nicely non-x-factor'ed ones are in the sweet little death camps.
You think maybe you're unfair, and then you look out the window and wonder if it wouldn't be appropriate to build a casino or start digging the graves.
You're restless, and you want off the reservation, and you're stuck.
You don't have to register, yet. It probably helps a little that you're more-or-less a prisoner and probably numbered already. You don't have to, but some of the X-Men are, and some of the mutants who aren't X-folk currently are.
But you've got your pride, man, and you've got thoughts on Steve Rogers and wondering where he might be.
And not to let Tony Stark know.
Everyone's taking a stand. Everyone has sides.
And officially, you're on the neutral one.
Unofficially, Kitty Pryde, you're anything but.
