She's glad that he's not there.

She didn't know she would be, but she is. Can't see his face, this way, and feel the guilt.

Which just makes her angry.

She wants to yell and say this is what she does, and he knew that, though she can't yell at all. She wants to hit him.

She wants to forget the way his eyes look when he sees her like this.

Kitty's glad Edmund's not there right now.

Because if he were there, she couldn't sob, or something like it, damned pain still there.

And if he was there, she couldn't wish for everything she'll never have.

It's not fair, she thinks.

When did the dream become such a nightmare?
