[ooc: from here]

She's considering taking them to the infirmary at the mansion--the technology is more advanced there--but considering the baby's already lost, Kitty simply takes them to the emergency room instead. Even there, the technology is more advanced than in most realities at this point in time.

Along the way, and while waiting, she had, quietly, forced Val to answer questions.

Maybe two meals a day, sandwiches and sometimes salads.

Working, fervently--throwing herself into it--even without being able to waitress.

Forgetting to take the multivitamin.

And as it goes on, her jaw tightens, but Kitty simply continues asking questions, voice level.

They're shown in fairly quickly--after all, the nurse doesn't know that the fetus is already dead--and when they try to say Val can only go back with one person, Kitty takes the woman aside and speaks with her, quietly, for a moment.

And nothing more is said about Val going back with only one person.

She is given fluids--no sedative yet, but Kitty knows it will come--and examined by a male doctor, tests performed--ultrasounds, among others--while the nurse asks questions.

Kitty is the one who answers them, as Val clings to Luke's hand. Because Val wouldn't want to, and Luke doesn't know everything. Doesn't know what the OB/GYN said during the visit, exactly, as Kitty's the one who spoke to her, and Kitty's the one who had Val at her apartment for not quite a week.

And it is Kitty, not Luke, who the doctor pulls into the hallway to speak with. In part because she's calm, and capable of speaking with him, and in part because Val won't let Luke leave.

And so, for the moment, it is only Luke and Val in the room, and the sound of the fluid dripping.
